Oregon Repertory Singers is a 501(c)3 nonprofit choral arts organization, presenting world-class music accessible to all. With a professional-caliber adult choir and an education- and performance-based youth choir program, ORS is committed to inspirational performances, exceptional education, and nurturing the choral audiences of this generation and the next. Formed in 1974, the Oregon Repertory Singers adult choir performs a wide range of repertoire at a high artistic level. The volunteer choir of over 90 members has been led by artistic director Dr. Ethan Sperry since 2011. Ethan is also the Director of Choral Activities at Portland State University and holds a BA in philosophy from Harvard College and MM and DMA degrees in choral conducting from the University of Southern California. His programming often highlights new works, living composers, local artists, and diverse cultures. Oregon Repertory Singers has extensive experience in joint programming with artistic partners. Whether with professional ensembles like the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra (Vancouver, WA), or young students from middle school choirs in the Portland area, ORS prides itself on offering unforgettable experiences for audiences through diverse collaborations. ORS also frequently presents music from a wide variety of cultures and composers; for example, in 2013 ORS presented Latvian composer Ēriks Ešenvalds’ Passion and Resurrection in one of its first performances outside of Europe. Oregon Repertory Singers is excited to continue this tradition of diversity and excellence, and in particular to present and celebrate Latvian art and culture with the Emīls Dārziņš Mixed Choir.
